Breast Reconstruction with Implant

As a 47 year-old woman, routine mammograms were performed yearly when changes were noted in the left breast. Two separate sites of cancer were found on biopsy. She had a left mastectomy with nipple preservation and placement of a tissue expander. Five months later the expander was replaced with a high profile 800cc silicone gel implant and a right breast reduction was performed for symmetry.
